My name is Mustafa. I was born and raised in Baghdad, Iraq. Due to several reasons I had to leave the country. Prior to arriving the United States, I lived in Syria for four years. Fun fact, I lived in 4 different time-zones. And yeah I think that’s funny actually.
I’m a senior undergraduate biology student taking the premed route to be a physician. My one goal in life is to fight cancer and/or contribute with something of value to the scientific community. I want to see the world cancer-free by the time I leave. Is it too much to ask? We’ll see…
So my other goal is to rebuild Iraq through either capacity building, education, and/or professional development. Iraq has contributed greatly to shaping the person I am today, so it is my social responsibility to help putting it back on its feet. It is equally important to note that I have another moral obligation towards my current home – America. I strive to better my community constantly through volunteering, raising awareness, advocating for environment, etc.
SORRY got on a tangent this blog started out initially as an initiative to introduce the world to Iraq. I simply wanted to change the world’s view on Iraq post 2003 war. However, due to studies and work I wasn’t able to meet that objective. I hope to get back to it after graduation. Therefore, in the mean time, I’m changing this blog to something more about my life; to something has plenty of random things going on all at once. (for more on that visit general comments here)
So, if you’re interested in Iraq, life in general, want to share stories, anecdotes, etc. you can post them here…
